Just a quick post to help you out if you are looking for a fairly easy end of the year teacher gift.  This year we made goody bouquets.

To make a goody bouquet, you will need:
hot glue gun & glue sticks (quite a few!)
goodies (we used raisins, pretzels, gum, candy, sticky note pads, gift cards)
skewers (I grabbed the longest ones I could find and cut them to different lengths)
a container (we used canning jars that I picked up for $.49/2 at Goodwill)
curling ribbon/tulle
decorative stones or jelly beans

Fill your container with the decorative stones.  Hot glue your goodies to the various skewers, keeping in mind that the largest things should be on the tallest skewers so that they can be seen from the front.  Decorate the container and the skewers with curling ribbon or tulle.  Arrange your skewers in an attractive way so that each item can be at least partially seen from the front.

These took about an hour to make from start to finish and were a big hit with the teachers!
I'm a bit late this week due to the fact that I took my pictures with a friend's camera and she had some technical difficulties as she tried to send me the photos.  That said...

On Saturday we went to the PTA's Spring Event - Under the Big Top.  I totally forgot to bring my camera and since my friend Heidi was working at the event, she gave me her camera to take pictures.  She has a nice basic DSLR which is better than my point & shoot.

Here are Boo and Bug with facepaint and some strange poses.

Here they are with the balloon manipulator.
Bug asked for the "clownie-est" hat she could make and Boo wanted a braided mohawk hat.
This is the end product.

We had a great time at the spring event.

Next week's challenge is also spring, but from a different perspective.
Why don't you give it a try?
As we are gearing up for the Olympics, Boo's class party at school also focused on the Winter Olympics. For their craft project, they made Olympic themed t-shirts.

To do this at home, you'll need:
Fabric Transfer Crayons (found at any craft store for about $4)
a T-shirt
a coloring page (Olympic themed pages can be found here)
an iron
and some cardboard or paper to go between the layers of the shirt

Preheat your iron!

Have your child color the coloring page with the fabric transfer crayons. The darker they color, the brighter the transfer. Any pre-printed lines on the page will need to be colored over with crayon if you want them to transfer to the shirt. If you want to add any writing, make sure that the writing is backward and mirrored. Also, if you color the Olympic rings, reverse the color order.

Place the cardboard or paper between the layers of the t-shirt. Dust off the loose crayon shavings from the page and place it color side down onto the shirt. Using your iron on the cotton setting (assuming you are using a cotton blend shirt), set it on part of the design for 3o seconds to 1 minute. Move iron to another section and repeat.

Once the entire design has been ironed, lift a corner of the paper and make sure that the colors are as dark as you'd like them.

That's it! Simple as can be!
