An old house, torn down. Shapes galore - real (triangle stair, square and rectangle bricks) and figurative (the shattered pieces and broken dreams of the person who built the house, the children that grew up climbing those triangle stairs and the farmer who lost his livelihood when the suburbs got too expensive to farm).

The silo on the same property is a nice, but lonely cylinder rising against the cold, Illinois sky.

In a more positive view on shapes, when Ebabe and I drove to IKEA last Friday, we went on a shape scavenger hunt. I love that the topic this week allowed some fun, teachable moments for me and my 3 year old! She had a great time helping me find different shapes and then counting sides and looking at colors. If you are a parent and didn't involve your children in this weeks challenge, I would highly recommend you re-do it from their perspective. You'll be amazed at the shapes they can find! Here's what we found on our trip.

  4. Great You Capture pictures!! And what a FANTASTIC idea to do the shape scavenger hunt. I should have done that with my kids. My 6-year-old would have loved that. I'll have to remember that idea for next time!

Mmmmm, I think I need the shape of an Ikea meatball! => (Love the Ikea sign-triangle shot! Really shows how it's all about perspective, doesn't it?)

Wow. That made me sad for a second about the farmer. It is amazing that more and more farmers can not keep up their work as cities continue to expand. Lovely pictures. IKEA is filled with shapes, isn't it?

The outdoor pictures are beautiful. Frameable in fact. They just draw my eye wanting to know 'more' of the story. As for the IKEA pictures, what a great idea! Enjoyed all the shots.

Love your post and captures! (and IKEA)
I think I might have to re-do this project next week with my son. We just gave him an old digital camera, so he can now snap together with me.
